Quirky Fashion from Yvonne Kwok

One to watch out for all you fashion fanatics, Yvonne Kwok is a graduate from the Netherlands who makes use of interesting fabrics and colours to create her quirky collections.
Taking inspiration from culture and society, Yvonne remixes references from the world of marrionettes, Carnival and punk culture to produce a clash of texture, colour and style which is competely unique.

"Warm tones combined with bright accents and pastels are inspired by the colours of organs. The strained strings stands for the restriction and the folding reflects the humor where some parts of the body are being blown up. Also the playing with the different placements of the limbs from the marionette doll are sometimes being taken out of context". (quote from Yvonne Kwok)

Utterly creative and ingenious ideas are used to create a mixture of style which we can can take inspiration from, even if its only to add a dash of colour to our Winter wardrobes!

Kwok wowed the judges at Amsterdam Fashion week with her Spring/Summer 2013 collection, and won the GStar Award for her unique contemporary designs.

Beautiful Wedding Gowns by Carol Hannah

Carol Hannah's obsession with design began as a childhood hobby of sewing and watching her mother make things, and so she virtually taught herself how to make patterns and draft designs from an early age. Appearing on Fashion Runway in 2009, she soon gained the publics' attention when she showed her second ever collection at New York Fashion Week in Bryant Park for Autumn 2009 and was dubbed “The People’s Champion.”

Carol Hannah produced her first Bridal Collection in 2010, and has had a new collection each year since....here are some of our favourites!....

Fashion for Carol Hannah is "all about feeling" she designs all her work in rough sketches first to get a feel for the fabrics and textures she will use then uses draping and layering techniques to get a real feel for the shape of the garment.

Visit Carol's lovely website at http://carol-hannah.com/ to see more of her collections including Bridesmade and Party Wear.

Emma Highfield Luxury Lingerie Designer

Want to feel extra special for your wedding or special occassion? Take a look at the wonderful creations of designer Emma Highfield, a woman who creates one off pieces for her own label, custom made by hand for each special customer.

She says, "My work is inspired by textiles, textures and vintage lingerie aesthetics. No matter what I am doing, I am always being creative. It’s like a switch that never turns off". There is an emphasis on quality materials and construction techniques used in her work which stem from an early childhood fascination in sewing, knitting and handcrafting taught to her by her grandmother, and practised throughout her adulthood. Emma designs everything herself, mostly creating one off pieces so that each customer recieves something completely unique,"When a customer or client spots a discarded design in my sewing studio and shows excitement, it encourages me to re-think previously overlooked concepts."

Modern Millinery Design by Zara Carpenter

Zara Carpenter is a milliner who creates beautiful bespoke hats in quirky designs that we just love!!

Drawing inspiration from everything around her, she says she 'eats, sleeps and dreams hats', and her favourite designers include Cecil Beaton, Stephen Jones and Piers Atkinson.

A hobby which has turned into a full time career within two years, Zara is definitely set for big things, although she is very modest in her approach, saying "I want to make beautiful hats and I want to make people happy".

Take a look at some of our favourite designs, visit her website at http://zaracarpenter.com/ or her Etsy shop for more info.
